The Geaslens

Daniel and Joy are excited to be part of Mission Aviation Fellowship as a pilot/mechanic family. Daniel will be flying national Christian workers, missionaries, medical evacuations, and relief workers in remote areas of Indonesia. Joy looks forward to daily life in Indonesia, developing friendships with neighbor women and families, and finding needs in the community where she can share God’s love. Luke 10:1-3a captures their call to missions together as it says: “After this the Lord appointed seventy-two others and sent them two by two ahead of him to every town and place where he was about to go. He told them, ‘The harvest is plentiful, but the workers are few. Ask the Lord of the harvest, therefore, to send out workers into his harvest field. Go! I am sending you out…'”

Daniel was raised in a godly home in northeastern Ohio, and first felt a clear calling to missionary aviation when he was 13. Beginning with short term mission trips in junior high, his travels have taken him to almost 30 countries. This has uniquely prepared him for his role in aviation and communication services in as a missionary pilot. Daniel graduated in 2005 from Moody Bible Institute’s Missionary Aviation Technology program, and then worked in aviation abroad for almost two years in preparation for joining MAF.

Joy grew up in western Massachusetts and learned from her family and church that God loved her and wanted her to serve Him. She chose to follow Him from a young age. Joy graduated from Wheaton College in 2003, with a BA in Psychology and a certificate of youth ministry. She served on campus ministry staff with InterVarsity Christian Fellowship for five years, planting a Christian fellowship at a college in New Hampshire. She has been interested in international ministry and participated in several short-term mission trips, as well as reaching out to International students on her campus.

Daniel and Joy met while Daniel was visiting relatives in New Hampshire. They were married August 1st, 2009, and are delighted to be serving God together.

God calls the men and women of MAF to serve Him in unique ways. He may also be calling you to a special role in the Geaslens’ ministry. Please prayerfully consider becoming a Ministry Partner with Daniel and Joy through prayer and/or financial support.

  1. Just got your newsletter yesterday. Sorry to hear you will be in Dalton, Ohio at a time when my husband and I will be ministering in Kenya. We will be gone the whole month of May so we will not be able to make your acquantance again. BUT glad to hear all is going well. Darling baby!!! Understand your stories about the transporation etc of the mission field. The roads in Kenya are so bad it is difficult to get around as well, but when God sends you somewhere it doesn’t really seem to matter and you actually kind of enjoy it!! Keep following God and hopefully our paths will cross again some day. Be blessed!! Drs. James A. and Carol Crook
